Hardy Purple Ice Plant is a moderate growing groundcover plant and perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 6A through 10A. It matures to an average height of 1 inch to 1 foot and an average width of 2 feet to 3 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun or morning sun with afternoon shade and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. The foliage is blue green in color. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to deer, drought, insects and heat.
Hardy Purple Ice Plant can be useful in the landscape in mass plantings, in foundation plantings, as a border or edger, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as a groundcover, in landscape beds or islands, for erosion control, to accentuate entryways or in small groupings and also in rock or xeriscape gardens or theme gardens.
Purple Ice Plant, Delosperma cooperi, is a cold hardy evergreen perennial but acts like it's an annual. How so? Like many flowering annual plants that bloom throughout the season, the Hardy Ice Plant produces flowers from early spring until frost! There just aren't very many hardy perennials with a bloom season this long.
The bright purple quilled flowers are about the size of a quarter and are produced abundantly throughout the warm season, at times almost covering the foliage. This is why we've used it so extensively in patches or as borders throughout our gardens, though rarely use it as a large space groundcover.
Hardy Ice Plant performs best in full sun to partial shade. Because it is a succulent, loose well-drained soils are a must. It hates wet feet!

My product seemed to be a bit tender. It was planted on the day I received it and watered it well. I hope it survives, spreads, and looks beautiful.
