Carex Comans 'Amazon Mist' is a moderate growing ornamental grass and perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 7A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 1 inch to 2 feet and an average width of 1 foot to 2 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun, morning sun with afternoon shade, morning shade with afternoon sun or filtered sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. The foliage is light green and medium green in color. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to deer, drought, insects, diseases, mildew and heat.

Amazon Mist Carex can be useful in the landscape in mass plantings, in containers or planters, as a border or edger, as a groundcover, in landscape beds or islands, for erosion control or in small groupings and also in theme gardens or perennial gardens.

Amazon Mist Sedge is prized for its finely textured, hair-like, mint colored foliage. It has an interesting, mounding, graceful, growth habit with narrow leaves that flow over the ground or spill over the edges of a pot, creating an exotic look. The tips of the leaves curl back creating a misty effect, hence the name. Plants grow to about 12 inches in height with a spread up to 18 inches. 

Amazon Mist Sedge is useful as a border or planted in mass in garden beds and makes a great accent in small garden beds or containers.

Amazon Mist is easy to grow when provided the right conditions. It requires moist soil until established at which point it can tolerate periods of drought. It requires 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight however will tolerate all day sun provided the soil remains moist.

Amazon Mist is very low maintenance requiring little if any fertilizer. It can be teased or cut back to remove dead foliage in late winter before new growth begins to emerge in spring.
