Stella De Oro Daylily is a moderate growing perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 4A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 1 foot to 2 feet and an average width of 1 foot to 2 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the spring, summer and fall Stella De Oro Daylily produces golden yellow flowers. The foliage is dark green in color. It attracts butterflies and visual attention and is resistant to drought, insects, diseases and heat.
Stella De Oro Daylily can be useful in the landscape in mass plantings, in foundation plantings, in containers or planters, as a border or edger, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as a groundcover, in landscape beds or islands, for erosion control, to accentuate entryways or in small groupings and also in cottage gardens, butterfly gardens or perennial gardens.
Winner of many awards, 'Stella de Oro' is probably the most popular daylily of all time. Why? Because it keeps on blooming for months producing up to 400 magnificent, rich golden-yellow flowers on a single mature plant! Now you know why Stella De Oro is considered by many the finest Daylily ever!
But the grerat attributes don't stop there. Hardy, permanent, and easy to grow, we've been growing Stella De Oro for over 20 years and have never seen a speck of rust on them. The neat, compact habit make Stella De Oro perfect for use a a low edging plant, in containers, or in stunning mass plantings in garden beds or on embankments.
Easy to grow and maintain, Stella De oro isn't fussy about soil type provided the soil is well drained. Full sun to mostly sun is preferred for best flower production. Flower scapes can be removed after flowers have faded however this is not mandatory. After 5 or so years daylilies can be dug up and divided into smaller clumps for transplanting or sharing with friends. Doing so will even increase their flower power!
This is one plant you'll treasure in your garden for many years to come!
