Pampas Grass is a moderate growing ornamental grass that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 7A through 10B. It matures to an average height of 8 feet to 10 feet and an average width of 6 feet to 8 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It attracts visual attention and songbirds / birds and is resistant to deer, drought, insects, diseases and heat.
Pampas Grass can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in mass plantings, in foundation plantings, as a buffer or screen, as a background, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as an accent, as a focal point, in landscape beds or islands or to accentuate entryways and also in cottage gardens or perennial gardens.

This vigorous ornamental grass is widely used as a single focal point specimen, or to mark entryways. Its quick growth rate and large size make it suitable for barrier or windbreak plantings and in larger areas where a grassy texture is desired.
Pampas Grass is an easy to grow plant when provided well-drained soil and full sun. In most regions the plant goes dormant during winter and can be cut back to 12 inches high or so in late winter before new growth starts to emerge in spring.
