    More about Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangea...

    Noteworthy Characteristics

Voted top plant of 2010 by the American Nursery and Landscape Association, Hydrangea paniculata Vanilla Strawberry™ is a relative of the classic PeeGee Hydrangea that produces large flower heads starting in early to mid-summer. The flowers emerge a creamy white turning pink and then strawberry red, or even burgundy, later in the season with the cooler night temperatures. Since new flower heads continue opening into late summer, plants can display all three color stages at any one time, making for quite a color show. The blooms are held atop red stems, which contrast nicely against the green leaves.

Useful as a single specimen, in small groupings or as an accent shrub or small tree in home foundation plantings or landscape beds. Aslo great for , flowering shrub borders, colorful natural hedges, and cottage gardens.

    Culture & Care Tips

In northern regions of the U.S. this hydrangea will tolerate full sun to part shade. In the South it prefers some shade or filtered sunlight during the hot, afternoon hours of summer. Is adaptable to many soil types provided the soil is well-drained, moist and rich in organic matter.
