More About River Mist Sea Oats...

'River Mist' is a new Northern Sea Oats that provides a striking green and white striped bamboo-like foliage which is second to none! What's really neat about this plant is that you can plant it in full sun or in shade, where it really brightens up the garden combining perfectly with hostas, heuchera, and ferns. The plant can grow to about 3 feet tall with an equal spread. In late summer, silvery green, oat-like seed heads are produced on arching stems, looking especially lovely when backed by morning or evening sunlight. The seeds turn copper in the fall and make an interesting addition to cut flower bouquets.

Variegated Northern Sea Oats is native to the wooded slopes and damp forests of southeastern North America, from Texas north to Pennsylvania and New Jersey. It is a clumping grass that is treasured for its showy, drooping flowers and unique bamboo-like foliage. It is a unique plant that provides a vivid look to any garden. It can be useful as a specimen or planted in small to large groupings for a very dramatic effect in the garden. Its tendency to reseed makes it an ideal choice for mass plantings. It can also be useful in larger container gardens.
