Additional Information About Shishi Gashira Camellia Sasanqua

Camellia Sasanqua 'Shishi Gashira' is a moderate growing shrub that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 7A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 4 feet to 5 feet and an average width of 4 feet to 6 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides morning sun with afternoon shade, morning shade with afternoon sun or filtered sun and grows best when planted in loam or clay soil that is well drained or moderately drained. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to heat.

Shishi Gashira Camellia can be useful in the landscape in foundation plantings, in shrub borders, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as an accent, as a focal point, in landscape beds or islands, grown flat against a wall, as a hedge or as a tree form shrub and also in theme gardens, cottage gardens or shade gardens.

More About Shishi Gashira Camellia...

Noteworthy Characteristics

Shishi Gashira is without a doubt the finest landscape camellia on the market. Produces an abundance of gorgeous, rose-pink double blooms that are as pretty as roses. Waxy, evergreeen, dark green leaves are handsome year round on this dwarf, compact form.

Uses

It's compact size (3-4' H x 4-5' W) make Shi Shi Gashira a fine selection for home foundation plantings or small garden spaces where larger growing cameliias won't fit. Like many evergreen azaleas, it also serves well in small to large groupings, as a natural low hedge or in large containers.

Culture

Camellias prefer a fertile, moist but well-drained, acidic soil. Constantly soggy soil is a slow killer. Your new camellia should not need regular watering after the first year unless there are extended periods of dry weather during summer. Camellias do best in partial shade or filtered sun. Avoid afternoon direct sun.
