Vaccinium Virgatum 'Star' is a moderate growing shrub and fruit bearing plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 8A through 10B. It matures to an average height of 6 feet to 8 feet and an average width of 4 feet to 8 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in loam soil that is well drained. In the spring Star Blueberry produces white flowers. The foliage is blue green and yellow in color.

A 1996, University of Florida release, 'Star' southern highbush blueberry is potentially one of the earliest of the early season varieties (coupled with a very concentrated ripening period), and has a moderately vigorous, upright growth habit. 'Star' highbush is a patented variety known for its easy hand-picking, and produces large, moderately firm berries taht are medium blue in color, and have a sweet, slightly acidic flavor characteristic.
