More About Dwarf Golden Threadleaf Cypress...

Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Filifera Aurea Nana' is a hardy evergreen conifer forms a delicate, golden lacey mound in the garden. It is lower growing (3-4' height with an equal spread) than some of it's cousins, such as the Gold Mop Cypress Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Gold Mop' which grows to . The new growth emerges bright golden yellow and holds the color throughout the growing season before gradually fading to green in fall. Older foliage provides a dark green contrast, drawing attention to the thread-like golden new growth. The graceful mounding habit creates a waterfall-like effect and looks lovely when combined with boulders and in rock gardens. Once established it is exceptionally drought tolerant, needing very little if any supplemental irrigation.

In the landscape, use Dwarf Golden Threadleaf Cypress as a specimen or accent in foundation plantings, landscape beds and rock gardens. It looks very nice around stones and boulders.

Dwarf Golden Threadleaf Cypress is an exceptionally hardy and easy to grow evergreen plant in zones 5a-9b. Plant it in locations that provide full sun to light shade and very well drained soil. Do not over water this plant after planting. Consistently soggy soil can lead to root rot and other diseases. During the first growing season, water only enough to keep soil around the root ball moist, but not wet. Once established this plant is very drought tolerant and would only need supplemental irrigation during prolonged period of dry weather. This plant is not a heavy feeder. Feed lightly in spring with a slow-release shrub and tree type fertilizer or a mild, organic plant food. No pruning required.
