Additional Information About Sensitive Fern

Onoclea Sensibilis 'none' is a moderate growing perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 4A through 8B. It matures to an average height of 2 feet to 4 feet and an average width of 2 feet to 4 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides shade or filtered sun and grows best when planted in loam or clay soil that is well drained. The foliage is light green in color. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to insects.

Onoclea Sensibilis - Sensitive Fern can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in mass plantings, as a border or edger, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, under a shade tree, as a groundcover, in landscape beds or islands or in small groupings and also in bog gardens or shade gardens.

Grows best in zones 4A-8B. The sensitive Fern is extremely sensitive to frost and derives it's name from the observation by the first American settlers to it's sensitivity to frost which causes it to die at first touch.
