Juniperus Chinensis 'Blue Point' is a moderate growing shrub and cone bearing plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 4A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 10 feet to 12 feet and an average width of 6 feet to 8 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun or morning shade with afternoon sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. The foliage is blue green in color. If you like fragrance, Juniperus Chinensis 'Blue Point' has fragrant foliage.
Blue Point Juniper can be useful in the landscape in foundation plantings, as a buffer or screen, as a background, in landscape beds or islands, to frame the corners of a home or other building, grown flat against a wall, in small groupings, as a hedge or in medians and also in theme gardens.
Noteworthy Characteristics
Blue Point Juniper has dense, blue-green foliage making it a nice specimen tree for landscapes. It's pyramidal form and outstanding blue coloring will make a statement and contrast well with surrounding plants. Blue point prefers to not be crowded at the base, so leave plenty of room for it to reach it's mature size without have competition too close.
Uses
Excellent for use as a single specimen, in groups, for visual screen plantings, sound buffers, foundation plantings, entryways and corners, and asian theme gardens.
Culture
Blue Point Juniper is easy to grow and very low maintenance. It prefers full sun and is not picky about soil type or pH as long as the soil is well-drained. It is tolerant of dry soil, drought, salt, and windy sites. It never requires pruning unless you want to shear it for a more formal look.
