Georgia Gem Blueberry is a moderate growing shrub and fruit bearing plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 7A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 5 feet to 5 feet and an average width of 4 feet to 6 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in loam soil that is well drained. In the spring Georgia Gem Blueberry produces white flowers. The foliage is blue green in color. It attracts wildlife, visual attention and songbirds / birds and is resistant to insects, diseases, mildew and heat.

Georgia Gem Blueberry can be useful in the landscape in shrub borders, in landscape beds or islands or as a hedge and also in cottage gardens.

A 1986, University of Georgia release, Georgia Gem southern highbush blueberry has an average, moderately vigorous, upright, bushy growth habit. It is an early to mid season producer of medium size berries, having good color, a sweet (even tart) flavor, a firm texture, and a dry stem scar. The fruit of Georgia Gem southern highbush blueberry has textural qualities that lends itself to having very good shelf-life, and long-term, frozen storage properties.

Georgia Gem's suggested pollinator(s) are Cooper and/or Jubilee . Georgia Gem has a moderate chill hours requirement of 350-400 hours.
