Miscanthus Sinensis 'Gold Breeze' PP22311' is a fast and moderate growing ornamental grass that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 5A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 6 feet to 8 feet and an average width of 3 feet to 4 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the summer and fall Gold Breeze Maiden Grass produces cream flowers. The foliage is yellow, medium green and dark green in color. It attracts visual attention and songbirds / birds and is resistant to deer, drought, insects, diseases, mildew and heat.
Gold Breeze Maiden Grass can be useful in the landscape in foundation plantings, as an accent, as a focal point, in landscape beds or islands, in small groupings or as a hedge and also in rock or xeriscape gardens, theme gardens or perennial gardens.
From the Southern Living Plant Collection comes Miscanthus 'Gold Breeze', which makes a 7' tall, heavily banded clump, topped in late summer with reddish-purple flower spikes that fade to golden-cream. Broad, arching apple green blades are banded with golden yellow bars. Quite striking, especially when the breeze blows! Drought tolerant when established and no insect or disease troubles. Can be cut back to just above the ground in late winter before new growth begins to emerge.
