Noteworthy Characteristics
A native of Brazil, Split Leaf Tree Philodendron, Philodendron bipinnatifidum, is a large shrub (not a vine) that grows up to 15' tall with an equal spread that displays large, glossy, deeply-lobed green leaves up to 3 feet long that are certain to provide a tropical splash in your landscape. It produces large white flower spathes. The plant does best with some shade during the afternoon though will tolerate more sun in cooler coastal areas. Great in the ground or in indoor or outdoor containers. One of the hardiest Philodendrons.
Uses
Split Leaf Philodendron Tree is most useful standing alone as a specimen in garden beds or containers. Where not winter hardy, it can be used outdoors as an annual or as a container plant that can be overwintered indoors or in a greenhouse when low temperatures drop below freezing.
