Lagerstroemia Indica 'Red Rocket' is a fast and moderate growing shrub and tree that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 5A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 15 feet to 30 feet and an average width of 6 feet to 10 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained or moderately drained. In the summer Crape Myrtle 'Red Rocket' produces red flowers. The foliage is yellow and medium green in color. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to deer, drought, diseases and heat.
Crape Myrtle 'Red Rocket' can be useful in the landscape in foundation plantings, as a background, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as a focal point, in landscape beds or islands, to frame the corners of a home or other building, to add property value, grown flat against a wall, in small groupings or as a tree form shrub and also in theme gardens, cottage gardens or perennial gardens.
The Red Rocket Crape Myrtle produces an abundance of large, vibrant ruby red flower clusters for up to 100 days during summer in your landscape. It has an upright habit growing from 15-25 feet tall depending on pruning, and a canopy from 8-10 feet wide. The dark green leaves turn to bronze and red in fall.
