Juniperus Chinensis 'Gold Lace' is a fast growing shrub and cone bearing plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 4A through 9A. It matures to an average height of 3 feet to 5 feet and an average width of 4 feet to 6 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam or clay soil that is well drained. The foliage is yellow in color. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to deer, drought, insects, diseases and heat. If you like fragrance, Juniperus Chinensis 'Gold Lace' has fragrant foliage.
Gold Lace Juniper can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in mass plantings, in foundation plantings, as a border or edger, in shrub borders, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as an accent, as a groundcover, as a focal point or in landscape beds or islands and also in rock or xeriscape gardens or theme gardens.
Noteworthy Characteristics
Called the "most golden of all junipers", Dirr, (1998), the Gold Lace Juniper shows a vibrant yellow color at the tips of it's branches. Often considered a derivative of the Pfitzer Juniper, the Gold Lace won't get quite as large, typically staying under 4' in mature height and 7' in spread.
Uses
Gold Lace juniper is great for use as a specimen, in small to large groups or mass plantings on embankments or in sunny landscape beds, in foundation plantings, as a low natural hedge, and also works well for topiary pom poms.
Culture & Care Tips
Gold Lace Juniper is very easy to grow and is very low maintenance; requiring no pruning. It adapts to a wide variety of soils provided they are well-drained. It prefers full sun to mostly sun.
