More about Weeping Bottlebrush...

Noteworthy Characteristics

Weeping Bottlebrush is a beautiful flowering tropical shrub, or tree that boasts a springtime explosion of bottle brush-like bright red to scarlet blossoms. Brilliant red stamens are arranged in cylinders the resemble the brushes used to clean bottles. The blossoms hang from the tips of the pendulous branches and wave seductively in the breeze. The leaves are narrow and lance shaped and are 4 inches in length. The new foliage growth in spring is a very attractive bronzy-green. Weeping Bottlebrush is perhaps one of the best plants for creating interest in the landscape. Limb it up from the bottom and very few other trees will rival the weeping habit, spring foliage color, and the spectaular red blossoms. A must have for deep south gardeners.

Uses

Excellent for use as a single specimen shrub or focal point treeform, in groupings, flowering shrub borders, natural hedge, visual screen or wind and noise buffer, home foundation plantings as a small focal point specimen, espalier (grown flat against a wall), large container gardens, hummingbird gardens, cottage gardens, and just about anywhere in the garden to bring interest.

Culture & Care Tips

Performs best in Full Sun. Prefers well drained soil. Average water needs. Can be pruned to maintain a desired shape. Looks magnificent when tree formed showing trunk at the bottom.
