More about Sweet Viburnum...

Noteworthy Characteristics

Sweet Viburnum is a large evergreen tree or small tree. The leaves are smooth, bright green and about 6 inches long. They are arranged oppositely on green stems in such a way that a healthy plant gives the impression of being quite robust and dense. With regular pruning a more dense form can be acieved and without pruning a more open tree-like form. Tiny white, pleasantly fragrant flowers are held in great panicles in spring. Following the flowers are the berries that turn from red to black and are attractive to birds. As the plant matures it will be more likely to produce berries.

Uses

Excellent for use a s a single specimen shrub or tree form, in smaller groupings, flowering shrub borders, natural large hedge, clipped formal hedge, home foundation plantings, butterfly gardens, wildlife gardens, asian theme gardens, cottage gardens, and woodland border plantings.

Culture & Care Tips

Prefers full sun or part shade. Plant in well drained soil with average water needs. For a tighter, more compact form or tree form regular pruning will be required.
