Colocasia Esculenta 'Blue Hawaii' is a fast growing tropical plant, aquatic plant and perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 7B through 11. It matures to an average height of 3 feet to 4 feet and an average width of 3 feet to 6 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun, morning sun with afternoon shade or morning shade with afternoon sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam or clay soil that is well drained. The foliage is blue green, burgundy, purple and medium green in color. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to deer, insects, diseases, mildew and heat.
Blue Hawaii Colocasia can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in mass plantings, in foundation plantings, in containers or planters, in shrub borders, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as an accent, as a focal point, in landscape beds or islands or to accentuate entryways and also in theme gardens, bog gardens or perennial gardens.
