Additional Information About Red Carpet Stonecrop

Sedum Spurium 'Coccinuem' is a moderate growing groundcover plant, perennial plant and succulent plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 4A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 1 inch to 1 foot and an average width of 1 foot to 2 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand or loam soil that is well drained. In the summer and fall Red Carpet Sedum produces pink flowers. The foliage is bronze and medium green in color. It attracts butterflies and visual attention and is resistant to deer, drought and heat.

Red Carpet Sedum can be useful in the landscape in mass plantings, in containers or planters, as a border or edger, as a groundcover, in landscape beds or islands or in small groupings and also in rock or xeriscape gardens, theme gardens, butterfly gardens or perennial gardens.

More About Red Carpet Sedum...

One from our 'Toe Tickler' collection, Red Carpet Sedum is a vigorous and long-lived groundcover that forms a dense weed-blocking mat. It starts red in the spring and stays red throughout the season and is not prone to reversions. Rosy red flowers appear in summer.

In our gardens we have Red Carpet Sedum growing in full sun and lightly shaded situations and it does equally as well in both. It is exceptionally drought and heat tolerant preferring a drier, well-drained soil but will also tolerate somewhat damp soils.

Red Carpet Sedum is a perfect choice as a border or groundcover in landscape beds; on slopes, in foundation plantings, ot the rock garden. It also works especially nice in containers where it will cascade over the edges of pots.
