Sedum Kamtschaticum 'Weihenstephaner Gold' is a moderate growing groundcover plant, perennial plant and succulent plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 7A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 1 inch to 1 foot and an average width of 1 foot to 2 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand or loam soil that is well drained. In the summer Weihenstephaner Gold Sedum produces yellow and bright yellow flowers. The foliage is medium green in color. It attracts butterflies and visual attention and is resistant to deer, drought and heat.
Weihenstephaner Gold Sedum can be useful in the landscape in mass plantings, as a border or edger, as a groundcover, in landscape beds or islands or in small groupings and also in rock or xeriscape gardens, theme gardens, butterfly gardens or perennial gardens.
Weihenstephaner Gold is a low-growing, tough, drought-tolerant sedum that has dependable, glossy, deep green foliage and is prolific flowering in summer. New spring growth is a welcome, cheerful red. Prolific, star-shaped flowers are golden yellow with pinkish orange overtones and cover the plant twice during the growing season. Plants grow to just 3-4 inches tall and 10 inches wide.
Weihenstephaner Gold Sedum is an excellent groundcover plant, particularly for hot, dry sites with poor soil. It is well suited for the rock garden or edging in a dry border, also a good choice for containers.
This sedum is very easy to grow provided the soil is well-draining. Full Sun is preferred.
A great low maintenance plant that always looks good!
