More About Yellow Hardy Ice Plant...The Yellow Hardy Ice Plant, also known as Cloud-Loving Ice Plant, is a low-growing and spreading evergreen succulent plant that is more cold hardy than others and exceptionally drought tolerant when established. It produces an abundance of bright yellow, daisy-like, quilled flowers that cover the succulent, bright green foliage in late spring (May-June). The flowers are about the size of a quarter.
Yellow Hardy Ice Plant is great for use as a border or in mass as a groundcover in well-drained in xeriscape and rock gardens or container gardens combined with other plants that have low water needs.
As with other ice plant, Yellow Hardy grows best in sites that provide well-drained soid and full sun to part sun. Sandy or rock soils are best. If your soil is compacted or heavy clay make sure to dig a wide planting hole and add some sand and'or small gravel in to ensure good drainage.
