Pandora's Box Daylily is a moderate growing perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 5B through 10B. It matures to an average height of 1 foot to 2 feet and an average width of 1 foot to 2 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun, morning sun with afternoon shade or morning shade with afternoon sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the spring and summer Pandora's Box Daylily produces white and maroon flowers. The foliage is dark green in color. It attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and visual attention and is resistant to heat. If you like fragrance, Pandora's Box Daylily has fragrant flowers.
Pandora's Box Daylily can be useful in the landscape in mass plantings, in containers or planters, as a border or edger, as a groundcover, in landscape beds or islands, for erosion control, in small groupings or in medians and also in cottage gardens, butterfly gardens, hummingbird gardens or perennial gardens.
Depending on your location and soil, the flowers Pandora's Box will be either white or pale yellow with a purple or dark maroon center ring around a green throat. The 4-inch diameter flowers are very fragrant and the petals edges are lightly ruffled. Reaches a height of 24-26 inches with a spread of 36 inches. A definite rebloomer.
This is the second order I've placed this year, the first was for a sedum variety Elsie's gold and a hellebore, Pink Frost. Both orders contained vigorous plants that transplanted well, my Elsie's Gold is in flower, while I won't see blossoms from this order of Pandora's box (I ordered them late) or the hellebore until next season. I have no doubt they will be exactly as ordered. I can't wait to order more in the spring!
