Agapanthus Africanus 'Africans Blue' is a moderate growing perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 8A through 11. It matures to an average height of 1 foot to 2 feet and an average width of 2 feet to 3 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun, morning sun with afternoon shade or morning shade with afternoon sun and grows best when planted in loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the summer Agapanthus Blue produces blue flowers. The foliage is medium green in color. It attracts hummingbirds and visual attention and is resistant to deer, insects and heat. If you like fragrance, Agapanthus Africanus 'Africans Blue' has fragrant flowers.
Agapanthus Blue can be useful in the landscape in mass plantings, in foundation plantings, in containers or planters, as a border or edger, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as an accent, in landscape beds or islands, to accentuate entryways, in small groupings or in medians and also in perennial gardens.
This wonderful plant selection has clusters of large, blue, funnel shaped flowers appearing atop long flower stalks in summer and early fall, rising above the coarse, strap-like green grassy textured foliage. For those of you that love striking blue flowers African Blue Agapanthus this plant is a must have.
