Additional Information About Coral Reef Chinese Stonecrop

Sedum Tetractinum 'Coral Reef' is a fast growing groundcover plant, perennial plant and succulent plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 5A through 8B. It matures to an average height of 1 inch to 1 foot and an average width of 6 inches to 1 foot, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained or moderately drained. In the summer Coral Reef Sedum produces soft pink flowers. The foliage is orange, pink and medium green in color. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to deer, drought, insects, diseases, foot traffic, mildew and heat.

Coral Reef Sedum can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in mass plantings, in containers or planters, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, between stepping stones and pavers, in landscape beds or islands or in small groupings and also in rock or xeriscape gardens or perennial gardens.

More About Coral Reef Sedum...

One from our 'Toe Tickler' collection and the toughest, hardiest, and most attractive sedum we've ever grown!

Penny-to-nickel-sized shiny, emerald-green leaves cover the cascading stems of this handsome, Chinese Sedum. Each round leaf is tipped with rosy-bronze, and the entire plant glows bronze-red in the fall. Yellow blooms appear in early summer atop the spreading, dense, spreading mounds of handsome foliage.

In our gardens we have Coral Reef Sedum growing in both full sun and somewhat shady situations and it does equally as well in both. It is exceptionally drought and heat tolerant preferring a drier, well-drained soil but will also tolerate somewhat damp soils.

Coral Reef Sedum is a perfect choice as a border or groundcover in landscape beds; on slopes, in foundation plantings, ot the rock garden. It also works especially nice in containers where it will cascade over the edges of pots.

This sedum is so hardy and attractive we have no problem recommending it for use in home foundation plantings.
