Gaura Lindheimeri 'Belleza Dark Pink' is a fast growing perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 5A through 10B. It matures to an average height of 1 foot to 2 feet and an average width of 1 foot to 2 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand or loam soil that is well drained. In the spring, summer and fall Dark Pink Gaura produces pink flowers. The foliage is burgundy and light green in color. It attracts butterflies and visual attention and is resistant to deer, drought, insects, diseases and heat.
Dark Pink Gaura can be useful in the landscape in mass plantings, in containers or planters, as a border or edger, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, in landscape beds or islands or in small groupings and also in rock or xeriscape gardens, cottage gardens, butterfly gardens or perennial gardens.
An update to my earlier review. I bought a flat of ten quart pots in 2019 and another in 2020. Most survived the Chicago winters and bloomed beautifully in 2021-22 and even more gorgeously in 2023 (really strong early summer bloom and then a strong autumn bloom). This spring (2024) they seem not to have weathered the (generally mild) winter very well, but I've read that these are not long-lived plants so I feel like they've had a great run. They look best planted in groupings for stability, handsome dark foliage too. They do need two spring prunings to make them grow solidly, and removal of the early summer bloom. We can't live without them and will buy more as soon as they (hopefully) come back in stock! Garden Direct has the best pricing I've been able to find.
These gaura did impressively well, given that I ordered them late in the season and then didn't get around to planting them until after a nasty heat wave. Several seem to be coming back the next spring, which these gaura often don't manage to do in Chicago.
Thank you!
The plants arrived in good shape and in good health. They're thriving in my garden. I'd buy again from this seller!
