More About Pink Chintz Thyme...

One from our 'Toe Tickler' collection, 'Pink Chintz' is one of the first creeping thymes to flower each year. This charming and reliable cultivar bursts into bloom in early spring with unique salmon-pink flowers. Its flowers are well-loved by butterflies and other pollinating insects. Its fuzzy olive-green foliage forms a mat 1 to 2 inches tall and 18 inches wide or more. Of all the thymes, it is one of the most tolerant dry conditions and occasional foot traffic.

Pink Chintz is easy to grow and care for provided the right conditions. Provide well-drained, average, neutral to alkaline soil in full sun. It will tolerate dry soils however will thrive even better with some moisture. That being said, constantly soggy soil causes root rot, which is a killer. When grown in containers it will require more water. In early spring you can shear to one-half inch and, later, lightly trim back after flowering. Once plants are established they will require little care.

Pink Chintz is an excellent choice as a groundcover or between stepping and paving stones. Patios, walks, rock gardens, stone walls, and pond borders all benefit from its creeping, cascading habit. It spills gracefully over stone walls, is excellent between stepping stones or pavers, and is an alternative to lawn grass for small lawns where occasional foot traffic releases its distinct aroma.

Pink Chintz Thyme is hardy in USDA Zones 4-9...meaning all but the very hottest and coldest parts of the planet are good for growing this great groundcover!
