Lantana Camara 'Sunny Side Up' is a fast growing annual bedding and perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 7B through 11. It matures to an average height of 1 foot to 2 feet and an average width of 1 foot to 2 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the spring, summer and fall Sunny Side Up Lantana produces yellow and white flowers. The foliage is dark green in color. It attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and visual attention and is resistant to deer, drought, insects, diseases, mildew and heat.
Sunny Side Up Lantana can be useful in the landscape in containers or planters, as a border or edger, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, in hanging baskets, in landscape beds or islands, in small groupings, in medians or in annual flower beds and also in rock or xeriscape gardens, butterfly gardens, hummingbird gardens or perennial gardens.
Sunny Side Up is a more recent selection that in our gardens here in Zone 8 of mid-Georgia has grown to about 18-24 inches tall by about 3 feet wide. It produces an abundance of bicolor white flowers with yellow centers that butterflies and hummingbirds will flock to!
Sunny Side Up Lantana is useful anywhere in the sunny landscape on slopes, in perennial or butterfly gardens, or in shrub borders.
Culture & Care Tips
IMPORTANT CARE TIP!!! DO NOT PRUNE LANTANA IN THE FALL as this will ensure death of the plant! Wait until new growth begins to emerge in spring to remove dead stems. A mid-summer shearing to remove seedheads is okay.
Plant in well-drained soil and full sun. A little light shade is okay.
