Additional Information About Firestar Dianthus

Fire Star Dianthus is a moderate growing groundcover plant and perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 5A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 1 inch to 1 foot and an average width of 6 inches to 1 foot, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the spring Fire Star Dianthus produces red and crimson flowers. The foliage is grey / silver in color. It attracts butterflies and is resistant to deer, insects and diseases. If you like fragrance, Fire Star Dianthus has fragrant flowers.

Fire Star Dianthus can be useful in the landscape in mass plantings, in foundation plantings, in containers or planters, as a border or edger, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as a groundcover, in landscape beds or islands, for erosion control, to accentuate entryways or in small groupings and also in rock or xeriscape gardens, theme gardens, cottage gardens, butterfly gardens or perennial gardens.

More About Firestar Dianthus...

Firestar forms a mound of grassy gray-green foliage, with a springtime display of fragrant fiery-red flowers with a crimson eye. Cut back lightly after blooming to maintain a more tight, compact form and to encourage repeat flowering in fall.
