Fire Star Dianthus is a moderate growing groundcover plant and perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 5A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 1 inch to 1 foot and an average width of 6 inches to 1 foot, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the spring Fire Star Dianthus produces red and crimson flowers. The foliage is grey / silver in color. It attracts butterflies and is resistant to deer, insects and diseases. If you like fragrance, Fire Star Dianthus has fragrant flowers.

More About Firestar Dianthus...Firestar forms a mound of grassy gray-green foliage, with a springtime display of fragrant fiery-red flowers with a crimson eye. Cut back lightly after blooming to maintain a more tight, compact form and to encourage repeat flowering in fall.
