Leucothoe-Florida is a moderate growing shrub that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 7A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 8 feet to 12 feet and an average width of 6 feet to 8 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides morning sun with afternoon shade, morning shade with afternoon sun or filtered sun and grows best when planted in loam or silt soil that is well drained or moderately drained. In the spring Leucothoe-Florida produces white flowers. The foliage is light green and medium green in color. It attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and songbirds / birds and is resistant to deer, drought and heat.
Leucothoe-Florida can be useful in the landscape as a border or edger, as a background or in shrub borders and also in rock or xeriscape gardens, cottage gardens or perennial gardens.
