Purple Shamrock is a moderate growing annual bedding and perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 8A through 11. It matures to an average height of 1 inch to 1 foot and an average width of 6 inches to 1 foot, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun, morning sun with afternoon shade or morning shade with afternoon sun and grows best when planted in loam soil that is well drained or moderately drained. The foliage is purple in color. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to heat.
Purple Shamrock can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in mass plantings, in containers or planters, as a border or edger, as an accent, under a shade tree, in landscape beds or islands, in small groupings or in annual flower beds and also in cottage gardens or perennial gardens.
