Creeping Raspberry is a fast growing groundcover plant and fruit bearing plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 6A through 9B. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to deer, drought, insects, diseases and heat.

Creeping Raspberry can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in mass plantings, in foundation plantings, in containers or planters, as a border or edger, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as a groundcover, in landscape beds or islands, for erosion control or to accentuate entryways and also in rock or xeriscape gardens, theme gardens or cottage gardens.

Creeping Raspberry is as attractive as it is tough. It will grow in the harshest conditions.

During spring and summer, the leaves are shiny, dark green above and gray-green below. Then they turn a handsome burgundy color throughout the cool season.

Creeping Raspberry produces pretty, small, white flowers in mid-summer that are followed by orange edible fruits that are quite sweet. But you'll have to beat the birds to them!

The looks of this plant are great, but what we like most about Creeping Raspberry is its toughness. Not many plants will tolerate dry or wet, sunny or shady, or very poor soil condtions. It not only survives, but thrives in any of these conditions.

Creeping Raspberry is an excellent erosion controller because it creeps along the ground by forming runners which root as they go. Although it is aggressive, Creeping Raspberry is not invasive. It doesn't climb trees or compete with shrubs, and it can readily be controlled by edging. That being said, we wouldn't recommend planting Creeping Raspberry in small, tight spaces, or together with other low growing plants, which always seem to lose if a battle for space ensues.

We've found Creeping Raspberry to be exceptionally drought tolerant when established, requiring supplemental irrigation only during prolonged periods of severe drought. It is also resistant to deer.
