The Variegated Confederate Jasmine is a beautiful and fast growing evergreen vine that brightens up the garden as it climbs up trellises, fences, poles and cover arbors and other overhead structures. During the spring it starts to produce delicate, pinwheel flowers that emit a wonderful fragrance well into mid-summer.
Use Confederate jasmine to climb and cover fences and pergolas, to clamber up tree trunk, or to soften concrete and brick walls and absorb heat in urban landscapes. Aside from it's many uses in landscape and garden beds, it works well in containers and urns and is especially nice in hanging baskets. It can also be grown as an indoor housplant where it will bloom equally as well provided it receives a few hours of sunlight through a window or sliding glass door. It also makes a good groundcover for large areas where it will scramble all over itself and may be sheared to maintain a height of about 2 ft.
Variegated Confederate Jasmine is very easy to grow, pest-free and drought tolerant. This is why it is probably the favorite vine of southern gardeners. It is not particular as to soil but prefers well drained situations with some organic matter. It does equally well in bright sun or shade. Pest-free, easy to maintain, drought resistant and heavenly fragrant, this is probably the south's favorite flowering vine!
A must-have plant for southern gardens.
