Noteworthy Characteristics
One of our favorites and the original Encore Azalea, the double petaled blooms of Autumn Rouge are a deep reddish-pink with ruffly edges. The large blooms are double in form, measure up to 2.5 inches across, and are striking against the dark green, evergreen foliage. USDA Zones 6b-9b.
Uses
With a height of 4 feet and spread of 4.5 feet, Autumn Rouge is useful in foundation plantings, in small or large groupings in landscape beds, as an informal colorful hedge, or singularly in containers.
Culture & Care
Encore Azaleas prefer a an acid soil that contains plenty of organic matter and is well-drained. Encores will tolerate all-day full sun however will also tolerate some shade. Too much shade and flowering will be diminished. 5 hours or more of direct sun per day is recommended. A light pruning and feeding after the first bloom phase can help stimulate new growth and encourage heavier bud development.
Thank you Gardener Direct. All the Encore Rouge Azaleas are beautiful and the ordering process was quick and easy. It's been so easy redoing my front yard with these plants arriving at my doorstep instead of having to haul them myself from local nurseries. I'll be ordering additional plants very soon for my side yards.
