Lavandula X Intermedia 'Phenomenal' is a moderate growing herb and perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 4A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 2 feet to 3 feet and an average width of 1 foot to 2 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand or loam soil that is well drained. In the spring and summer Phenomenal Lavender produces purple and lavender flowers. The foliage is grey / silver and light green in color. It attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and visual attention and is resistant to deer, drought, insects, diseases, mildew and heat. If you like fragrance, Lavandula X Intermedia 'Phenomenal' has fragrant foliage.
Phenomenal Lavender can be useful in the landscape in mass plantings, in containers or planters, as a border or edger, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as an accent, in landscape beds or islands or in small groupings and also in rock or xeriscape gardens, cottage gardens, butterfly gardens, herb gardens or perennial gardens.
A new breeding breakthrough, Phenomenal is a super heat and humidity tolerant cultivar producing rich lavender purple elegant blooms held above attractive silvery green foliage. It also has exceptional winter survival in our gardens with no dieback at all and has demonstrated superb disease and deer resistance. Both the flowers and the foliage are strongly fragrant and perfect for fresh or dried flower arrangements and oil uses.
