Ligustrum Japonicum 'Recurvifolium' is a fast growing shrub and tree that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 7A through 10A. It matures to an average height of 6 feet to 12 feet and an average width of 6 feet to 10 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun, morning sun with afternoon shade or morning shade with afternoon sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the spring Wavy Leaf Ligustrum produces white flowers. The foliage is dark green in color. It attracts songbirds / birds and is resistant to deer, drought, insects, diseases and heat. If you like fragrance, Ligustrum Japonicum 'Recurvifolium' has fragrant flowers.

Noteworthy Characteristics

Wavy Leaf Ligustrum is a tough and adaptable fast-growing evergreen shrub which makes an excellent hedge or small tree. It can be left to grow naturally to 10 feet or so in height. With pruning it can be clipped as a hedge to a minimum height of about 5 feet. It can also be "limbed up" to form a very handsome small tree. Panicles of fragrant white flowers are produced in spring and contrast against the very dark green foliage. The leaves are waxy and wavy and add provide a nice texture in the landscape.

Uses

Wavy Leaf Ligustrum makes an excellent natural or semi-formal hedge. It is also nice as a stand alone specimen shrub or small tree. Simply remove lower branches to tree form.

Culture & Care Tips

Wavy Leaf ligustrum is easy to grow in a variety of soils provided they are well-drained. Very disease and insect resistant. Exceptionally drought tolerant when established. No pruning necessary howebver can be pruned as a formal hedge or small tree.
