Firechief Heuchera is a moderate growing perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 4A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 1 foot to 2 feet and an average width of 6 inches to 1 foot, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides shade, morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the spring, summer and fall Firechief Heuchera produces pink and white flowers. The foliage is red in color. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to deer and heat.
Firechief Heuchera can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in foundation plantings, in containers or planters, as an accent, under a shade tree, in landscape beds or islands, to accentuate entryways or in small groupings and also in theme gardens, perennial gardens or shade gardens.
This wondefully colored perennial earns it's name well. The mounded, glowing red foliage might cause you to call the Fire Chief! Bicolored pink and white flowers rise atop the the beautiful, bright leaves on dark red stems. Blooms throughout spring, summer, and fall!
