More about Imperial Blue Plumbago ...

Noteworthy Characteristics

Imperial Blue Plumbago, Plumbago auriculata, is a tropical shrub that produces deep powder- to sky-blue flower clusters at the ends of gracefully arching branches. If you're looking to cool decks and other outdoor living spaces during the heat of summer, this is your plant! Flowers are produced year round in hot climates and spring through fall in cooler climates. Butterflies love them. Great for use in garden beds or containers.

Uses

Imperial Blue Plumbago is useful as a colorful accent or in groupings in landscape beds and foundation plantings, in mass on embankments and slopes, as an informal hedge, filler plant, or in containers where they make a perfect entryway plant. Can also be tree-formed or trained on a trellis for espalier. Where not winter hardy, it can be used outdoors as an annual in beds or as a container plant that can be overwintered indoors or in a greenhouse when low temperatures drop below 40 degrees.
