Noteworthy Characteristics
The dwarf oyster plant is an improved cultivar that is lower and slower growing and less invasive than its taller growing parent. The leaves are a dark teal-tinged forest green on top and vivid violet underneath. The small white three-petaled flowers are produced throughout the year and are hidden in boat-shaped purple bracts nestled in the leaf axils. These succulent plants reach about 8 inches in height. It is slow-spreading plant with a neat appearance and attractive color and texture that works in both formal or casual landscapes.
Uses
Dwarf Oyster Plant is useful as a border plant, in mass as a groundcover, and especially as an underplanting for palms and other larger shrubs and trees that will provide it some shade.
