Noteworthy Characteristics
Considered by many to be the most cold hardy Oleander cultivar in the US, Cardinal Red produces an abundance of beautiful, bright red flowers in clusters during the warm season and sporadically year round in hot climates. It is a vigorous grower into a large shrub or small tree with medium green leathery foliage and has demonstrated greater cold tolerance than most oleanders...as far north as USDA Zone 8.
Uses
Cardinal Red Oleander is useful as a large, colorful specimen shrub or small tree or as a hedge. Where not winter hardy, it can be used outdoors as a container plant that can be overwintered indoors or in a greenhouse when low temperatures drop below 40 degrees.
