Noteworthy Characteristics
Native to warm, subtropical and tropical regions throughout the world, Joan is a tropical hibiscus that produces spectular, large, vibrant red-veined yellow flowers with cute red eyes. Joan is a vigorous growing, medium sized shrub or small tree that blooms over an extended period of time. Glossy, dark green leaves are an extra-added bonus.
Uses
Where hardy outdoors, Joan Hibiscus is useful as a colorful accent or specimen shrub to highlight entryways, as a hedge, espalier to cover bare walls such as the spaces between windows, or in containers. Where not winter hardy, it can be used outdoors as an annual in beds or as a container plant that can be overwintered indoors or in a greenhouse when low temperatures drop below 55 degrees.
