DescriptionRed Fountain, Fargesia 'Jiuzhaigou' (pronounced "zhu-zhi-go"), is a stunning, highly-ornamental, non-invasive clumping bamboo that has much better heat tolerance than past selections of Fargesia nitida. Makes a 10' tall clump with small, narrow green leaves against green canes which turn a beautiful cinnamon-red in their second season. The red coloration brighter with more light. As the clumps age, the older canes eventually turn to yellow. One of our favorites and it's deer resistant!
Red Fountain Bamboo forms an attractive tight clump up to 6 feet wide. No need to control this one however in-ground barriers or containers can be used to control width. Makes an excellent specimen or container plant.
