Noteworthy Characteristics
Royal Star Magnolia is an attractive small tree prized for the abundance of white, star-shaped, double flowers it produces in late winter or spring, before the foliage emerges. Each flower has 12-18 strap-like petals.
Uses
Most attractive as a single specimen however can be planted in groupings. Really looks nice in a woodland border with a dark background.
Culture
Grows best in moist, well-drained soils that are rich in organic matter and full sun to part shade, however is generally tolerant of soil extremes (wet or dry). In heavy clay or poor soils make sure to add some organic compost to the native soil removed from the planting hole.
