It prefers growing in a location that provides shade, morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the summer Abiqua Drinking Gourd Hosta produces white flowers. The foliage is blue green in color. It attracts butterflies and visual attention and is resistant to drought and heat.
