Hibiscus Moscheutos 'Midnight Marvel' is a fast growing shrub and perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 5A through 8B. It matures to an average height of 4 feet to 5 feet and an average width of 4 feet to 6 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun or morning shade with afternoon sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the spring and summer Midnight Marvel Hibiscus produces crimson flowers. The foliage is purple in color. It attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, wildlife and visual attention and is resistant to diseases and heat.
Midnight Marvel Hibiscus can be useful in the landscape in foundation plantings, in containers or planters, as a background, in shrub borders, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as an accent, as a focal point, in landscape beds or islands, in small groupings or as a hedge and also in cottage gardens, butterfly gardens or perennial gardens.
