The White Striped Dwarf Bamboo has stunning white leaves with green variegation lights up the garden. The foliage turns to a creamy golden color during summer. In our gardens here in mid Georgia, we've found it does best with some shade so is a perfect choice to light up those shady areas. It grows from about 3 to 6 feet in height and spreads quickly. Mow or prune it to the ground every spring to keep the plants tidy and to enhance the variegation.
White Stripe Dwarf is a running bamboo, which means it will spread freely to cover quite a large area. Root pruning, a Bamboo Root Barrier or growing plants in above- or below-ground containers are methods to control spread.
Gardener Direct also carries Bamboo fertilizer and planting soil containing Biochar, a highly porous material that allows for long term water and nutrient holding capabilities.
