It matures to an average height of 1 foot to 3 feet and an average width of 1 foot to 2 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam or clay soil that is well drained. In the summer Hot & Spicy Oregano produces pink and purple flowers. The foliage is pink and medium green in color. It attracts butterflies and wildlife and is resistant to deer, insects, diseases, mildew and heat.
Hot & Spicy Oregano can be useful in the landscape in mass plantings, in containers or planters, as a border or edger, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas or in small groupings and also in cottage gardens or herb gardens.

Growing & Harvesting Information
Perennial in USDA Zones 6a-10b, Hot & Spicy Oregano is an easy-to-grow perennial that tolerates a variety of soils, as long as those soils are well drained. Like most Mediterranean-type herbs, they need only moderate water and grow best in a gravelly loam with as much sun as you can give them.
You can begin harvesting oregano for fresh or dried use when the plant is about 8 inches high. Harvest leaves frequently. The flavor is most intense just before the plant blooms. Frequent harvests will produce a bushier plant and keeps foliage succulent. In fact, it's a good idea to cut plants back to about 6 inches at least twice during the growing season, leaving ample growth in fall to sustain the plant through winter.
Uses & Cooking Information
The flavorful leaves Hot & Spicy oregano are used in Mexican dishes, tomato sauces, with meats, fish, cheese, egg dishes, salads, cheeses, and with vegetables.
