Foeniculum Vulgare 'none' is a fast growing herb and perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 4A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 4 feet to 5 feet and an average width of 1 foot to 2 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the summer Fennel produces yellow flowers. The foliage is light green in color. It attracts butterflies, wildlife and visual attention and is resistant to deer, drought, diseases and heat.
Fennel can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in mass plantings, in containers or planters, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as an accent, in landscape beds or islands, in small groupings or in annual flower beds and also in cottage gardens, butterfly gardens, herb gardens or perennial gardens.
