More about 'O'Neal' Southern Highbush Blueberry...

A 1987, North Carolina State University release, O'Neal Southern Highbush blueberry has a moderately vigorous, semi-upright, rounded, spreading growth habit. It is a very early season variety (ripens 2-3 weeks before early Rabbiteyes), with an extended ripening period that also makes it an ideal pollinator for other southern highbush varieties. O'Neal produces firm, medium size berries that are a medium-dark blue in color, and have a very sweet, distinctive berry flavor. O'Neal's limber branches, together with its firm texture and good stem scar, make it ideal for commercial plantings/mechanical harvests.
