Shipping Plants Safely

Before you order plants from any online source, do some investigation to insure your plants will be shipped safely and are guaranteed to arrive safely.

At Gardener Direct, we guarantee you will receive the best quality plants. We provide uniformity in all the plants we ship, and we package all plants securely for safe transit.

To ensure the plants you purchase from Gardener Direct arrive safely and in good health we only ship some of our plants early during the week. This ensures that there will be no unnecessary delay over the weekend. 

The following is a list of the types of plants we ship and the methods we use for shipping them:

Ornamental Plants & Trees
Our shrubs and trees are grown in containers ranging from 1 gallon to 7 gallon size and have well-established roots. Unlike bareroot or liners grown in 2, 3 or 4 inch size pots, which have little or no soil around the roots, our fully rooted ornamental plants and trees ship extremely well due to their heavy rooting. We use a shipping method that keep plants locled into place in the shipping box, thus avoiding damage to the plants. Bottom line, we do everything possible to ensure that the ornamental plants and trees you purchase from Gardener Direct arrive safely and are in top-notch health upon arrival.

Perennial Plants
Our perennial plants are grown in 4”, Quart, and 1 gallon containers and have well-established roots. Unlike bareroot perennial plants, which have no soil around the roots, our fully rooted perennial plants ship extremely well due to their heavy rooting. We use a shipping method that keeps plants locked in place in the shipping box thus avoiding damage to the plants. Some of our perennial plants, such as Sedums and other succulaents, do not ship well during the summer months so we avoid shipping them at this time. We provide information as to shipping periods for these types of plants.
